Telangana Draft Rolls to Exclude 73.3 Lakh Electors, 93.7 Lakh to Get Notices

Telangana is set to publish its draft electoral rolls on Monday following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise across the state. Under the newly prepared draft rolls, approximately 73.3 lakh electors are proposed to be left out, while another 93.7 lakh voters face notices over data anomalies or their failure to establish linkage with the 2002 electoral rolls.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana, C Sudarshan Reddy, stated that the draft electoral rolls would first be presented to political parties during a meeting on Monday. Following the meeting with political representatives, a press conference will be conducted by election officials, and the draft rolls will be uploaded online so electors can independently review and check their enrollment status.

In addition to the main draft rolls, election authorities will publish a dedicated list containing the 73.3 lakh electors who have been classified as uncollectible and recommended for deletion. The SIR process initially started with a total pool of approximately 3.38 crore electors in Telangana. Throughout the enumeration and field verification exercise, around 73.3 lakh entries were categorized as uncollectible, marking them for potential removal from the voter list.

Electors whose names are excluded from the draft rolls will be given an opportunity to file formal claims seeking inclusion. The release of the draft list officially opens the claims and objections window, which will remain active from August 17 to September 16. During this period, electors across Telangana can seek inclusion of their names, request corrections of their personal details and entries, or raise formal objections before the rolls are finalized.
