Telangana CS Sanjay Jaju Directs Officials to Expedite Rail Projects Around Hyderabad

Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Monday directed officials to prepare comprehensive detailed project reports (DPRs) for the expansion of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) and the development of railway terminals along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR) corridors around Hyderabad.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat alongside South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Mr. Jaju reviewed 21 key issues concerning railway infrastructure and connectivity across Telangana. The discussions covered the construction of railway underpasses and overbridges, road widening and approach road works, line doubling projects, and measures to improve public transport connectivity to the Cherlapalli railway station.

Emphasising that rail connectivity is vital for the state's economic, industrial, and regional development, the Chief Secretary instructed departmental heads and district collectors to expedite pending issues and adhere strictly to project deadlines. He also instructed officials to prepare for land acquisition required for future rail connectivity, including potential bullet train corridors.

During the meeting, SCR officials stated that DPRs for 17 railway projects spanning 2,023 kilometres, with an estimated investment of ₹50,870 crore, have already been submitted to the Railway Board for consideration. Mr. Jaju assured the railway authorities of complete support from the state government and called for joint inspections by railway and state officials to resolve ground-level bottlenecks.

The review also evaluated ongoing railway works, land acquisition hurdles, and pending inter-departmental clearances. Officials decided to formulate DPRs to secure funding under the Central government's PM Gati Shakti programme.

Mr. Jaju directed officials from the Municipal Administration, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Revenue, Energy, and Roads & Buildings departments to maintain close coordination with SCR. Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Naveen Mittal, along with other senior administrative and railway officials, attended the meeting.
