Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Approves Special Ticket Prices for Ram Charan's Peddi

On June 3, 2026, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy approved a Government Order (G.O.) allowing special ticket prices and premiere shows for actor Ram Charan's upcoming movie 'Peddi'. The decision, which brings significant financial relief to the film's makers, comes despite recent political tensions in Hyderabad between the state government and the actor's uncle, politician Pawan Kalyan.
The approval of the G.O. had been a subject of intense speculation within the film industry. Obtaining government permissions for ticket price hikes and early premiere shows has recently become a highly challenging task for producers due to various legal issues. Observers pointed to recent scheduling issues faced by the film 'Rajasaab' as an example of the difficulties plaguing big-budget releases.
Tensions had escalated further after Pawan Kalyan delivered a fiery speech in Hyderabad targeting Telangana politicians. Several Congress ministers issued sharp responses, leading to widespread speculation that the state government might deny the G.O. for 'Peddi' to politically retaliate against Pawan Kalyan's family.
Similar situations had occurred previously in Andhra Pradesh, where the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government targeted the movie 'Shyam Singha Roy' after actor Nani spoke in support of Pawan Kalyan, leading to historic lows in ticket pricing in some areas.
However, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy chose to separate cinema from politics. Industry experts estimate that refusing the permissions for special rates and premieres would have cost the distributors and producers approximately Rs 15 crore. The decision has brought immense relief to the makers of 'Peddi', which has locked in a massive pre-release business of Rs 165 crore.
The state government's decision has won widespread praise from fans, movie lovers, and political experts alike for keeping political conflicts out of the film exhibition sector.
