Telangana Clears Two DA Hikes for Employees, Arrears Total Rs 6,174 Crore

The Telangana government has issued orders in Hyderabad sanctioning two instalments of Dearness Allowance for state government employees, addressing pending dues and raising the overall payout.

The two sanctioned instalments were due from January 1, 2024, and July 1, 2024. Prior to the release of these orders, the state government had five pending DA instalments for its workforce.

The instalment due from January 1, 2024, provides a 3.64 per cent hike, taking the cumulative DA to 37.31 per cent. This component has accumulated arrears over 33 months, running from January 2024 up to September 2026, which amount to Rs 3,810 crore.

The second instalment, due from July 1, 2024, adds an increase of 2.73 per cent, bringing the cumulative DA to 40.04 per cent. Arrears for this instalment cover a period of 27 months, from July 2024 to September 2026, totaling Rs 2,364 crore. Together, the arrears for both instalments stand at Rs 6,174 crore.

The government also noted subsequent DA instalments due from January 1, 2025, and July 1, 2025, which stand at 1.82 per cent and 2.73 per cent, respectively. Once those pending instalments are cleared, the cumulative DA for employees will reach 44.59 per cent.
