Telangana Civil Supplies Department Prepares Storage for Paddy Procurement

HYDERABAD — The Telangana Civil Supplies department has begun preparations to ensure adequate storage capacity ahead of the Kharif 2026-27 paddy procurement season, initiating a comprehensive logistics and infrastructure plan to prevent bottlenecks during peak grain arrivals.

At a review meeting held at Civil Supplies Bhavan on Tuesday, officials decided to explore all available options to secure additional storage space across the state.

The meeting was chaired by Civil Supplies Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra. During the review, officials focused on formulating strategies to manage the incoming yield efficiently without causing disruptions.

District collectors are likely to be asked to identify and secure viable facilities in their respective jurisdictions. These include standard godowns, market yards, and Cover and Plinth (CAP) storage facilities.

To further maximise the available space before the procurement season commences, the department is also planning rapid stock evacuation drives to clear existing stocks from state godowns.
