Telangana CEO to Release Draft Electoral Roll on Monday Excluding 73.39 Lakh Names

HYDERABAD — Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy will release the draft voter list for the state on Monday as part of the ongoing special intensive revision of the electoral roll, initiating the claims and objections process across Hyderabad and other districts.

Under this revision, approximately 73.39 lakh names categorised under ASDD (absent, shifted, dead, and duplicate) will not be published in the draft electoral roll. Following the publication, the Election Commission of India will begin issuing notices to specific categories of electors.

Around 60 lakh voters identified with logical discrepancies—such as errors in their name, father’s name, age gaps between siblings, or age differences with parents—are set to receive notices from Electoral Registration Officers. These notices, pre-printed with the elector’s details, will be dispatched directly from the ECI office. Electors who do not find their names on the draft list will be eligible to submit claims to restore their voting status.

The window for submitting claims and objections begins immediately on Monday and will run until September 16. The disposal of these claims will continue until October 15, while tribunals will be established to address unresolved disputes, such as vote deletions made after an ERO decision. The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 19.

During the claims period, the ECI has made specific provisions for booth level agents representing recognised political parties. Across Telangana, there are more than 49,000 registered BLAs, including 25,160 in Hyderabad district alone. Among recognised parties in the city, the Congress has 3,601 BLAs, the BJP has 3,044, the BRS has 2,212, AIMIM has 2,519, the Telugu Desam Party has six, the CPM has nine, and the BSP has seven.

Each BLA from a recognised political party is permitted to submit up to 50 forms daily, including up to 20 Form 6 applications for new voter registration, 20 Form 7 applications for deletions or objections, and up to 10 Form 8 applications for address shifting, corrections, EPIC replacements, or PwD marking. These submitted claims can be examined by election officials as well as BLAs from rival political parties.
