Telangana CEO to Issue 93 Lakh Notices for Electoral Roll Anomalies

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy announced that 32.3 lakh voters in the state have been categorised as unmapped after officials could not establish their linkage with the 2002 electoral rolls during the recent revision process.

In addition to the 32.3 lakh unmapped electors, authorities identified 61.4 lakh anomaly cases during the electoral roll revision. Together, these two categories will lead to approximately 93 lakh notices being issued to electors across Telangana following the publication of the draft rolls on August 17.

The unmapped electors will be required to establish their linkage with the 2002 electoral rolls or submit one of the prescribed documents during the upcoming verification process. Officials stated that electors who fail to establish their eligibility risk having their names excluded from the final electoral rolls.

According to election officials, a large number of voters remained unmapped during the pre-special intensive revision exercise. In numerous instances, electors filled in only their current voter details on the enumeration forms and left the sections concerning the 2002 electoral rolls blank.

Officials noted that many electors left those fields blank because they either did not know their 2002 details or did not look for them due to a casual approach. Consequently, these electors were placed into the unmapped category and must now undergo verification.
