Telangana CEO Releases Draft Electoral Roll, Objections Open Till Sept 16

HYDERABAD — Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy on Monday released the draft electoral rolls for the state as part of the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR), opening the window for claims and objections.
The release allows residents across Telangana to verify their names in the updated voter ID list. Following the publication, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin issuing notices to electors falling under specific anomaly categories.
According to an election official, approximately 60 lakh voters have been identified with "logical discrepancies" and are most likely to receive notices from their respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). These discrepancies include inconsistencies in the voter's name, father's name, age differences between siblings, age gaps relative to parents, and other related classification errors. The notices, printed with individual elector details, will be dispatched from the ECI's office.
The claims and objections period commenced immediately upon the roll's release on Monday and is scheduled to close on September 16. Voters who do not find their names included in the draft list have the opportunity to file formal claims during this period to reclaim or secure their voting rights.
The disposal of claims and objections also began on Monday and will continue for an additional month, concluding on October 15. In cases where disputes remain unresolved, such as contentious decisions by EROs regarding the deletion of a vote, designated tribunals will be set up to handle appeals.
The final electoral roll for Telangana is scheduled to be officially published on October 19.
