Telangana CEO Directs Officials to Strictly Follow Seven-Day SIR Notice Period

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy has directed election officials across the state to strictly maintain the mandatory seven-day notice period during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Speaking during a video conference held in Hyderabad, the CEO instructed booth-level officers (BLOs) to deliver SIR notices directly to electors in person and obtain proper acknowledgements. BLOs were also instructed to remind electors about the date, time, and venue of their respective hearings at least two days in advance.

Along with Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vasam Venkateswar Reddy and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer GS Chary, the CEO reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 with all district electoral officers (DEOs), electoral registration officers (EROs), and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs).

The review focused extensively on the resolution of claims and objections, notice distribution procedures, and the formal conduct of hearings under SIR-2026. Emphasising procedural adherence, the CEO stated that every single activity must be systematically documented and recorded.

Election authorities were directed to prepare comprehensive hearing schedules based on the volume of hearings required in each jurisdiction. Officials were also instructed to ensure wide publicity regarding the specific list of prescribed documents that electors need to submit.

To ensure transparency, officials were asked to share lists of no-mapping and anomaly cases with political parties. Additionally, updated lists of claims and objections must be provided to political parties on a weekly basis during regular meetings.

The review concluded with an assessment of notice distribution progress, hearing timelines, and the allocation of cases among AEROs and additional AEROs across districts.
