Telangana BJP to Allocate Up to 90 Percent of Municipal Election Tickets to Youth

The Telangana BJP plans to allocate up to 90 percent of candidate opportunities to young leaders in the upcoming municipal corporation elections. Party president N. Ramchander Rao announced the decision on Thursday during a membership drive at the party's State office in Telangana, where he highlighted intensified enrollment efforts targeting youth, women, and intellectuals.
Addressing the gathering after inducting new members, Rao stated that the party has become increasingly attractive to younger generations. He attributed this trend to improved employment opportunities driven by the Central government's economic reforms and the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi among Gen Z voters.
Rao also used the platform to launch a political attack on the Congress party, accusing it of attempting to mislead young people. He emphasized the necessity of educating the current generation about the mid-1970s Emergency, during which the then-Congress government suppressed democracy.
'The Congress party must apologise to the people of the country for undermining the Constitution during the Emergency, when fundamental rights were curtailed and many were jailed,' Rao asserted. He added that leaders who carry copies of the Constitution today have no moral right to speak about it, alleging that the Emergency disrespected Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
In addition to election preparations, Rao urged citizens to participate in the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to ensure an accurate electoral roll. He dismissed claims from opposition parties, stating that no genuine voter would be removed and cautioned the public against believing falsehoods spread by the Congress, BRS, and MIM.
Rao pointed out a contradiction in the opposition's stance, noting that while the Congress and BRS have opposed the SIR exercise, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed his ministers to take the process seriously. He further claimed the BRS opposes the revision due to weakened booth-level networks.
Lastly, the BJP president accused Congress leaders of spreading fear among North Indian migrant workers by falsely claiming they would lose property rights if they did not register where they work. Rao clarified that the SIR exercise is designed strictly to target duplicate, fake, deceased, or illegal entries, rather than genuine voters.
