Telangana AYUSH Doctors Call Off 28-Day Strike After Health Minister Assures Stipend Hike

AYUSH students, house surgeons, and postgraduate doctors in Telangana have called off their 28-day indefinite strike on Monday following an assurance from Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha regarding their long-pending demand for a stipend hike. The decision came after a delegation met with the Minister in Hyderabad to present their grievances.

The delegation, comprising AYUSH students, house surgeons, postgraduate doctors, and student leaders, highlighted the prolonged disparity in their remuneration. They pointed out that their demand for a stipend hike had remained pending for nearly a decade, and they sought parity with the stipends provided to their allopathy counterparts.

Following the meeting, the representatives stated that the Health Minister listened to their concerns and committed to resolving the issue favorably.

“The Minister heard our concerns and assured us that the government would take a positive decision on increasing AYUSH stipends to a level on par with allopathy. He also assured us that the necessary procedures would be completed and an official Government Order (GO) would be issued soon,” the doctors said in an official statement.

With the assurance that administrative procedures would be completed and an official Government Order would be issued in the near future, the protesting doctors and students announced the formal withdrawal of their strike.
