Telangana Approves Rs 108 Crore for Ambedkar Knowledge Tower at Lower Tank Bund

The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 108 crore for the construction of the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Tower at Lower Tank Bund in Hyderabad. The new facility will replace the old Ambedkar Bhavan structure, which has reportedly remained unused for nearly twelve years.
The proposed modern building will feature one cellar, a ground floor, and 10 upper floors. State authorities decided to build a completely new structure after the Roads and Buildings Department inspected the existing ground-plus-one (G+1) building and declared it old and dilapidated.
Following the assessment by the engineering authorities, the Scheduled Castes Development Department prepared and submitted a revised proposal for the multi-storey knowledge tower. To initiate the project work, the state government has allocated Rs 25 crore in the 2026-27 Budget.
Officials stated that an architectural and structural consultant will soon be appointed to draft and finalise the building plans, elevations, and other essential technical requirements for the development.
Welfare Minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar stated that the state government is committed to creating better opportunities for Scheduled Caste students and youth. He noted that under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the administration is prioritising education, employment, social development, and overall empowerment for people belonging to the Scheduled Caste community.
