Telangana Approves New Waste Management Facility at Siddapur Village in Ranga Reddy

The Government of Telangana on Thursday, July 2, 2026, issued official orders approving the establishment of a new solid waste management facility for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in Siddapur Village, Kothur Mandal, within the Ranga Reddy district. The facility is set to be developed on an 86-acre site as a key component of the ongoing ‘Eco Town’ project.
The project will be operated and managed by the concessionaire agency, Hyderabad Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Limited (HiMSW). The land utilized for this facility was originally owned by the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. The corporation agreed to hand over the land to the GHMC free of cost to facilitate the establishment of the town, with advance possession of the site delivered to the civic body in February 2026.
This new waste management site is expected to bring major relief to the existing solid waste management facility located at Jawahar Nagar, which falls under the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits. For a long period, residents living in the colonies and villages surrounding the Jawahar Nagar dump yard have been actively protesting and fighting for the relocation of the site due to severe environmental concerns. The operationalization of the Siddapur facility is projected to moderate the high pollution levels currently affecting those nearby residential areas.
The broader ‘Eco Town’ initiative is being constructed on a 150-acre plot in Siddapur village. The project is being executed under the Friendship and Co-operation Agreement established between the Government of Telangana and the City of Kitakyushu, located in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan.
Through this international partnership, the project aims to foster a circular economy within the state and support the environmental objectives of achieving Net Zero goals for the Future City.
