Telangana ACB Uncovers Irregularities at Karimnagar Town Planning Office

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has conducted a surprise check at the Town Planning Section of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, uncovering a series of procedural lapses, administrative deficiencies, and indications of unauthorized middleman activity.
During the inspection, ACB officials thoroughly verified office records, revenue-related transactions, pending applications, and the overall functioning of the town planning section. The scrutiny aimed at evaluating the transparency and efficiency of daily municipal operations.
Investigators noticed several irregularities concerning the supervision and maintenance of official records. Deficiencies were also detected in the monitoring of revenue collections, the disposal and pendency of public petitions, and the accountability mechanisms governing field enquiries. Furthermore, the inspection team identified issues relating to the improper use of official user credentials within the office system.
The ACB team observed noticeable lapses in providing necessary information and facilitation to visiting citizens and members of the public seeking civic services.
Crucially, the surprise check revealed indications regarding the presence of unauthorized middlemen and mediators. These individuals were allegedly collecting money from the public under the pretext of facilitating official town planning work and speeding up approvals. The ACB stated that further verification regarding the network of middlemen is currently underway.
Following the inspection, the ACB confirmed that a detailed report documenting all observations, findings, and detected irregularities will be prepared and submitted to the State government. The government will determine and initiate further action as deemed appropriate under the applicable legal framework.
