Telangana ACB Seeks I-T Probe Into Rs 100 Crore Benami Assets of Officials

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad has written to the Income Tax (I-T) department seeking an investigation into properties allegedly held in benami names by several government officials.
Following the reports submitted by the ACB, I-T officials have initiated action in cases involving alleged illicit assets worth more than Rs 100 crore. The I-T department has reportedly registered cases under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act and commenced an investigation styled along the lines of an Enforcement Directorate probe.
The properties under the scrutiny of the I-T department are allegedly held in benami names linked to officials across multiple departments. Those named in the investigation include REDCO Divisional Engineer Muthyam Venkata Ramana, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bheem Reddy, and HMDA Chief Engineer Ravinder.
Additionally, the I-T probe covers properties associated with Land Records Deputy Director Sunkari Narahari Rao, Excise Superintendent Kommuri Mallareddy, and Roads and Buildings (R&B) Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik.
