Telangana ACB Arrests DSP Sankireddy Bheem Reddy In Hyderabad

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Police Computer Services Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy in Hyderabad on Monday night. The arrest was made after the anti-graft agency detected disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees allegedly belonging to the officer.

Following the arrest, the ACB received widespread appreciation from the public and netizens on its official Twitter handle. Citizens commended the agency's swift action and urged officials to conduct a transparent investigation into the DSP's assets.

Several citizens expressed their views online regarding the arrest. A netizen named Arun Deshpande praised the agency for catching a "big fish" and suggested that the ACB could apprehend more corrupt officials if it worked with an informants' network supported by an incentive plan.

Another citizen, Y Narahari, pointed out the challenges in prosecuting corrupt officials, noting that weak charge sheets and prosecution enable corrupt individuals to get back their posts. Narahari suggested the establishment of fast-track courts to curtail long-drawn pendency in corruption cases.

Other members of the public expressed shock at the situation, noting that many people fight hard for government jobs in India to settle and build secure futures, while some officials turn them into a luxury for illicit gains by taking citizens' hard-earned money. Some netizens raised questions about why only certain officials are caught in trap cases given the large number of police stations in Hyderabad, calling for stronger system-wide action.

Further reactions included calls from netizens like Vamshi and E Harish, who demanded a transparent probe and urged the ACB to conduct similar raids on tainted officials across the state. They also requested investigations into the sources of ill-earned wealth of government officers.

A netizen named KS Prasad highlighted the need to review and strengthen existing service rules to ensure greater accountability and deterrence against corruption. Prasad stated that unless systemic reforms are introduced, the efforts of anti-corruption agencies may not achieve their full intended impact. Some suggested that the state government should examine the current framework and, where necessary, introduce appropriate amendments to enable the immediate removal of guilty officers from service after being found guilty through due process.
