Tehreek Muslim Shabban Demands Telangana Waqf Board Disclose Finances

Tehreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Malik, alongside religious leaders and scholars in Hyderabad on Monday, demanded complete transparency and public disclosure of the income, expenditure, and property records of the Telangana Waqf Board.

Mushtaq Malik stated that while the state government and Waqf authorities frequently cite the immense value of Waqf properties across Telangana, the community has a right to know how much revenue is generated, where funds are deployed, and what balance remains with the board. He emphasised that Waqf properties serve as an entrusted asset of the community and that revenues must strictly fund designated purposes, including education, healthcare, support for widows and destitute families, and other welfare initiatives.

Expressing concern over the alleged failure to convene regular Waqf Board meetings for over two years, Mushtaq Malik asked authorities to provide details regarding the last properly conducted meeting, pending files, major property matters, and decisions taken regarding Waqf assets and their proceeds.

He demanded comprehensive, year-wise and property-wise financial statements covering expenditure on community welfare, maintenance of dargahs and mosques, property protection, staff salaries, and administrative overheads.

Mushtaq Malik also sought clarification on reports concerning valuable Waqf properties, specifically citing land related to Alwar and Jamia Nizamia, alongside approximately 1,600 acres described as Waqf land. He called for the full disclosure of survey numbers, ownership documents, legal standing, and details of any proposed sales, auctions, or transfers.

Questioning the silence of AIMIM MPs, MLAs, and Waqf representatives on these issues, he urged elected leaders to publicly clarify their positions. He concluded by demanding regular board meetings, audited accounts, published minutes and resolutions, an open inventory of major Waqf properties, and a transparent inquiry into any planned commercial use or disposal of Waqf lands.
