T Venkanna Appointed as New Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation Commissioner

The Telangana government has appointed T. Venkanna as the new commissioner of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) in Warangal. The appointment, announced as part of a fresh round of administrative transfers by the state government, will see Venkanna assume charge of his new responsibilities in the civic body shortly.

Before receiving his new posting in Warangal, Venkanna was serving as the joint metropolitan commissioner for the core urban region and metro rail division of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). His transfer from the HMDA to the GWMC represents a shift in his administrative duties within the state of Telangana.

With this new appointment, the government has also relieved Chahat Bajpai, IAS, of her additional responsibilities in Warangal. Bajpai, who is the Hanamkonda district collector, had been holding the post of GWMC commissioner under full additional charge (FAC). The transfer of Venkanna to the post relieves her of these temporary municipal duties.

The transition of the GWMC commissioner's office is expected to take place shortly when Venkanna arrives to formally assume charge of his duties in Warangal. This administrative move by the Telangana government ensures that the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation has a dedicated commissioner to oversee its operations and civic administration.
