Suryapet Couple Joins Daughter's US Wedding Virtually, Showers Blessings Over Screen

A couple from Telangana’s Suryapet district participated virtually in their daughter’s wedding in the United States, performing traditional rituals and offering blessings through an online livestream after being unable to attend the ceremony in person.

The bride, Himabindu, who is the only daughter of Jayaraju and Jyothi, married Rohith Kumar on Friday night. Rohith is a native of NTR district. The couple had met while living in the US, where they fell in love and eventually decided to get married.

However, due to travel constraints, Jayaraju and Jyothi were unable to travel overseas to attend the marriage venue in person. To ensure they did not miss the milestone, the parents watched the wedding proceedings online from Telangana.

During the key wedding rituals, the parents took part actively from their home. They picked up akshintalu, the sacred rice traditionally used to bless newlyweds, and showered the grains toward the screen as Himabindu and Rohith exchanged their vows.

The virtual connection allowed the family to carry out significant customs and witness the ceremony despite being thousands of kilometres away. For the bride and groom, having the parents join the livestream ensured that familial blessings remained a central part of their wedding day.

The event highlighted how technology continues to assist families in remaining connected during major personal occasions across international distances, allowing parents to share in significant milestones even when physical presence is not possible.
