Suryakumar Yadav Partners With De Beers In Hyderabad To Promote Natural Diamonds

Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has partnered with De Beers for a new campaign to celebrate natural diamonds in India, speaking about his career journey and batting philosophy during a visit to Hyderabad.

In an interview, Yadav drew parallels between his own resilient cricketing journey and the rarity of natural diamonds. The partnership aims to promote De Beers' natural diamonds by highlighting the cricketer's authentic and unconventional path to success.

Yadav, who has built his career on backing his own instincts, explained that there is no coaching manual for the unique shots, such as ramps and scoops, that have made him one of the most-watched batters in world cricket. He noted that he has trusted these instincts since long before others did.

When asked about his connection to natural diamonds as symbols of rarity and authenticity, Yadav highlighted the shared element of pressure. He explained that natural diamonds survive immense pressure to become what they are, a process of resilience he relates to in his own sporting career.

"That’s what makes natural diamonds special to me, they’re rare, they’re real, and no two are exactly the same," Yadav said. "In a similar way, every player has their own journey, their own style, and their own identity. For me, that individuality is something I’ve always valued, and that’s why this association feels very natural."

He reflected on how challenges shape an athlete, noting that the journey of a sportsman is similar to how diamonds are formed under pressure and over time, building strength from within to eventually shine.

Yadav also discussed the concept of "real is rare" in his life. He stated that being genuine in everything, both on and off the field, is crucial. He emphasized that honesty and consistency stand out over time, and that his focus has always been on playing his natural game rather than trying to be someone else.

Addressing the relationship between individuality, credibility, and consistent excellence, Yadav noted that his cricket journey has been about trusting and backing his own style, even when it was considered unconventional. He added that credibility is earned step-by-step through performance over time, while consistency is what keeps an athlete at the top.
