Suresh Gopi Launches Tree Planting Drive at Hyderabad Residential Centre

On Tuesday, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi urged students to become ambassadors of cleanliness and environmental protection during a Swachhta Pakhwada programme at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Centre for Excellence in Hyderabad. The Minister also participated in a tree plantation drive under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign to promote a greener Telangana and India.
The event was jointly organised by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), including Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), alongside Reliance Industries Limited and Nayara Energy. MP Konda Visweswara Reddy and Piyush Mittal, Executive Director and State Head (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh), also attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Gopi stated that cleanliness is a culture rooted in personal responsibility and public participation rather than just a campaign. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Mission has turned cleanliness into a nationwide people's movement. He added that clean classrooms, litter-free streets, and green campuses reflect the character of responsible citizens.
During the tree plantation drive, Gopi urged students to nurture every sapling with care, describing trees as valuable gifts for future generations that provide shade, clean air, biodiversity, and a healthier environment. He encouraged families across the state to plant and nurture trees to contribute to a greener nation.
The Minister highlighted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is committed to sustainable development and social welfare alongside ensuring India's energy security. He praised the collaborative efforts of the energy sector companies, stating that such initiatives demonstrate their commitment to nation-building beyond their core business responsibilities.
He advised students to maintain discipline, conserve water and electricity, avoid single-use plastics, and respect public property to actively protect the environment. Gopi concluded by emphasizing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, stating that every citizen has a role to play in environmental conservation, health, education, and social responsibility.
