Sumanth Starrer Newton’s 3rd Law Hits Theatres Across Hyderabad
Debutant director Rajesh Karna’s Telugu crime thriller Newton’s 3rd Law, starring actor Sumanth Yarlagadda, released in theatres across Hyderabad on July 31, 2026. Produced by Harish Kohirkar, the film also features Jagapathi Babu, Avasarala Srinivas, Ravi Varma, Trinadh Varma, and Shelley N. Kumar in key roles.
Set in 1999 in Hyderabad, the story revolves around investigator Vasu Dev, played by Sumanth, who begins probing the mysterious death of a youngster named Vinay, played by Trinadh Varma. Vasu soon discovers that Vinay's death was not an accident but a murder. As the investigation deepens, he uncovers a surprising connection between the college student and Stephen Mercury, a ruthless criminal and smuggler played by Jagapathi Babu.
The film's central theme is built on the scientific principle that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, linking this idea to the concept of karma. On the technical front, the movie features music composed by Sinjith Yerramilli, cinematography by Veda Vyas Gottipati, and editing handled by Anil Pasala.
In terms of performances, Sumanth anchors the narrative effectively as a serious investigator. His character arc is written with a subtle twist that adds value to the film. Trinadh Varma, whose character drives the plot, delivers a sincere performance that demonstrates his potential as a dependable actor. Shelley N. Kumar delivers a natural portrayal as Vinay’s mother, expressing grief and restraint with ease. Director Rajesh Karna earns praise for executing both the opening sequences and the climax neatly. However, the film struggles with narrative momentum due to its screenplay. The investigation repeatedly covers familiar territory in the first hour, leading to a stretched pace interrupted by frequent flashbacks. The second half similarly loses grip, becoming weighed down by lengthy conversations that revisit previously established points.
