Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Shares Journey of Healing and New Book in Banjara Hills

Actor, singer, and author Suchitra Krishnamoorthi spoke about her journey of healing, resilience, and her new book, '108 Quotes from the Bhagavad Gita: Ancient Wisdom, New Learnings', during an evening event at the Kalakriti Art Gallery in Banjara Hills. Krishnamoorthi shared how the book served as a deeply personal companion to navigate immense personal grief following the consecutive losses of her parents, sister, and brother.
Released under her own imprint, The Crackajack Company, the book was born out of what Krishnamoorthi described as a period of turbulence. Seeking solace after facing profound personal loss alongside financial and emotional setbacks, she returned to the Bhagavad Gita to find peace and a sense of stillness.
Rather than writing a dense academic commentary, Krishnamoorthi aimed to simplify the scripture to make it feel like companionship. She described the text not necessarily as a religious scripture, but as a manual for mindful, conscious living, comparing its relevance to that of a modern leadership or self-help book.
Krishnamoorthi revealed that she faced mockery and skepticism when she decided to write the book, with critics questioning her lack of scholarly credentials. Choosing to bypass traditional publishers, she self-published the work. The title has since ranked among the top thousand self-help and motivation titles globally, performing particularly well abroad.
During the event, she expressed her excitement about returning to Hyderabad, which she refers to as her second home. The evening concluded with Krishnamoorthi performing the song 'Badalte Mausam' alongside Sunita Nagarajan, reflecting the themes of transition and wisdom discussed throughout the evening. She also noted that an audiobook version of the work is expected to be released by the end of the year.
