Sri Ram Dairy Foods in Jeedimetla Issued Showcause Notice Over Hygiene Violations

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials have issued a showcause notice to the management of Sri Ram Dairy Foods in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, following an inspection that revealed multiple food safety, hygiene, and compliance violations. During the visit, the inspection team also lifted ghee samples from the facility for laboratory testing due to concerns over unhygienic conditions and a lack of proper documentation.

The inspection uncovered a wide range of operational lapses at the dairy unit. According to officials, the establishment failed to prominently display its Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license on the premises, which is a standard regulatory requirement. Additionally, the facility was not following the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory management system to ensure the freshness of its stock.

Inspectors also raised serious concerns regarding the storage conditions at the facility. They found that the temperature in the cold room was not properly maintained, which resulted in a foul smell emanating from the storage area. Furthermore, food waste at the site was not being removed on time, leading to a significant presence of flies in the surrounding area.

The team also reviewed the dairy's compliance practices and found that crucial documentation was missing. During the inspection, the management was unable to produce any pest control records, food testing reports, or medical fitness certificates for the workers. Furthermore, proper documents regarding the purchase of raw cream used in the production process were completely unavailable.

Following the comprehensive review of the dairy's hygiene, storage, food handling, and compliance practices, the CMC officials took immediate action. The team lifted samples of the ghee produced at the facility to test for quality and safety. A formal showcause notice was subsequently issued to the management of Sri Ram Dairy Foods regarding the unhygienic conditions and compliance failures.
