Sreenidhi University TG20 Cricket Tournament Begins at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium

The Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Sreenidhi University TG20 cricket tournament got underway on Sunday, June 21, 2026, with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. The glittering event marked the formal commencement of Telangana’s premier T20 competition, drawing a packed crowd to the stadium.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka attended the event as the chief guest. He was joined by several high-profile dignitaries, including Director General of Police CV Anand, BCCI apex council member V Chamundeswaranath, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) secretary M Jeevan Reddy, HCA treasurer Anil Kumar, HCA joint secretary Basava Raju, governing council chairman V Agam Rao, and governing council member C Sanjeev Reddy.
The star-studded evening also featured Sreenidhi University TG20 Brand Ambassador Vijay Deverakonda, former India cricketer and Head of Cricket Operations Ambati Rayudu, and active India international bowler Mohammed Siraj. Renowned music composer Thaman S performed during the ceremony, contributing to the festive and celebratory atmosphere in the stands.
The tournament aims to serve as a key platform for nurturing and showcasing emerging cricket talent across Telangana. Speaking to the young cricketers and fans in attendance, Vijay Deverakonda highlighted the immense opportunity the league provides for aspiring players from the state, expressing his hope that the tournament would help produce future superstars who will represent India.
Ambati Rayudu, who is closely involved in the development of the tournament, encouraged the participants to make the most of the platform. He noted that the talent pool in Telangana is immense and expressed his desire to see the number of players representing Hyderabad and Telangana double in the coming years.
