SR Nagar Police Arrest Pharmacy Worker and Seize Prescription Drugs Worth Rs 4.80 Lakh

The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda) team, in coordination with the SR Nagar police, arrested a pharmacy worker and a consumer for the alleged illegal sale and possession of habit-forming prescription medicines and cough syrups worth Rs 4.80 lakh.

The arrested individuals were identified as Pathan Saleem, 28, a pharmacy worker residing in Yousufguda, and Prashanth Reddy, 19, an unemployed youth from Sanath Nagar.

According to police officials, Saleem worked as an assistant to his elder brother at Smart Choice Health Pharmacy located in Sanathnagar. Investigators stated that Saleem took advantage of his brother’s absence to sell controlled medicines at inflated prices to buyers without valid doctor prescriptions in order to earn illegal profits.

Police said Saleem also used pharmacy rubber stamps to facilitate the illicit sales and maintained a separate storage space within the same building to stock the medicines.

The second accused, Reddy, had approached Saleem’s store to purchase the habit-forming medicines for personal consumption without a prescription. Acting on specific intelligence, the Task Force and SR Nagar police conducted an operation and apprehended both individuals red-handed.

During the raid, law enforcement officials confiscated 12 Termin injection vials, 10,000 Tapentadol (Tapazole) 100 mg tablets, 450 bottles of Senkof cough syrup, six bottles of Alkof DX cough syrup, and a OnePlus Nord 5 mobile phone. The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 4.80 lakh.

The SR Nagar police have registered a case regarding the incident, and further investigation into the supply network is currently underway.
