Skyroot Begins Shipping Second Vikram-1 Rocket Hardware From Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based space startup Skyroot Aerospace has begun shipping hardware for its second Vikram-1 rocket from its Infinity campus in Hyderabad to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, targeting a second test flight by the end of the year.

The dispatch of the launch vehicle's first stage took place barely a month after the company's maiden orbital mission. The remaining stages of the rocket are scheduled to follow to the launch site over the next couple of months.

The first stage, designated Kalam-1200, was transported from the Hyderabad facility on specially fitted trucks. Like the first stage, the second stage (Kalam-250) and third stage (Kalam-125) are named in honour of the late Indian scientist and former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

According to Skyroot co-founder Pawan Kumar Chandana, proof-pressure tests for the second and third stages have already been completed. Propellant filling is currently under way before those stages are cleared for shipment to Sriharikota.

Chandana stated on social media platform X that the hardware for the next launch was en route to the launch site just 36 days after the first Vikram-1 mission. He noted that the team continues to build from India for global space demands.

The second test flight remains targeted for later this year, though the precise launch timing will depend on technical readiness and necessary regulatory approvals. Skyroot has not yet finalised any design modifications based on data collected from the maiden Vikram-1 mission, and details regarding payloads and mission partners will be announced closer to the launch date.
