Six youths booked for chasing family on Ghatkesar-Boduppal highway

A family returning from a wedding was chased, threatened, and verbally abused by six youths on motorcycles on the Ghatkesar–Boduppal highway in Ghatkesar, near Uppal, on June 21.
The incident, which occurred around 7:00 PM, led to a police complaint being filed by the driver, Sai Kumar, on Monday evening. The Ghatkesar police have booked the six unidentified youths in connection with the road rage dispute.
According to the police, Sai Kumar was driving from Ghatkesar towards Uppal with his wife, children, and other relatives, including women and children, when the confrontation began.
The accused were reportedly riding three motorcycles recklessly in front of the family’s car. This prompted Sai Kumar to sound his horn, which angered the riders.
Ghatkesar Sub-Inspector A. Shekhar stated that the youths became aggressive after the horn was sounded and demanded that the family stop the car. When the vehicle stopped, an altercation broke out between the two parties.
The accused provoked Sai Kumar to step out of the car. However, the frightened passengers urged him not to escalate the situation. The family then rolled up their windows and drove away, which prompted the youths to chase them.
During the pursuit, the youths allegedly hurled footwear at the vehicle in an attempt to force it to stop and shouted verbal abuse at the occupants.
The entire incident was recorded on the car’s dashcam. The family initially shared the footage on social media before formally approaching the authorities.
Sub-Inspector Shekhar stated that the police have been able to partially identify the registration numbers of the motorcycles from the footage. The investigation is currently underway, and a case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the unidentified suspects.
