Six Arrested Near Vanasthalipuram with 12 kg Hashish Oil Worth Rs 1.5 Crore

Six persons, including an IT employee and two 17-year-old boys, were apprehended near Vanasthalipuram on Monday for allegedly transporting 12 kg of hashish oil worth Rs 1.5 crore from Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru.
Acting on credible intelligence that a consignment was being moved from Alluri Sitharama Raju district through Hyderabad, police teams intercepted the group near Vanasthalipuram, Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi said.
During physical searches, officers found that four of the accused, including two minors, had strapped one-kilogram packets of hashish oil around their legs and stomachs using adhesive tape. Each carrier was transporting three kilograms of the contraband, leading to the recovery of 12 kg in total.
According to the police, the prime accused was identified as G Srinu, a native of Gemmeli village in Alluri Sitharama Raju district. Srinu was previously arrested in cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Andhra Pradesh. Following his release from prison, he allegedly resumed trafficking alongside an Andhra Pradesh-based supplier named Krishna and a Bengaluru-based receiver, Sijo, who is originally from Kerala.
Police said Srinu and his wife, who works as an IT employee, organised the transport operation and recruited unemployed tribal youth from neighbouring villages by offering monetary incentives. Sijo had allegedly promised Rs 10 lakh for the delivery of the 12-kg consignment to Bengaluru.
The group had collected the contraband from Krishna and travelled by private transport from Alluri Sitharama Raju district toward Bengaluru via Hyderabad before being intercepted.
Investigation into the case is ongoing. Police stated that Krishna and Sijo are absconding, and efforts are underway to trace them and identify others involved in the supply chain.
