SIR Not Meant to Delete Legitimate Votes, Says Telangana BJP Leader Ramchander Rao

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana leader N Ramchander Rao stated on Monday in Hyderabad that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise is a routine administrative measure designed to update and clean voter lists across the country, rather than an attempt to delete legitimate voters.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Rao defended the ongoing nationwide revision process and accused the Congress party of fabricating a false narrative out of frustration after remaining out of power for more than a decade.
Rao pointed out that previous Congress governments had also conducted the SIR exercise during their tenure. He noted that following the revision conducted in 2002, the current exercise is being carried out after a 24-year gap.
He further observed that the SIR process is taking place across the entire nation and pointed to Kerala, where elections were held following the completion of the SIR exercise and the Congress party had won.
Clarifying the scope of the exercise, Rao stated that the revision is intended to include new voters while removing entries for individuals who are deceased or listed as duplicate voters. He stated that the Congress party was attempting to foster a misleading attitude among the public regarding the revisions.
