Singer Rakshita Suresh celebrates success of hit song Hellalalo from movie Peddi

Singer Rakshita Suresh has shared insights into the massive commercial success of her latest track 'Hellalalo' from the film 'Peddi', composed by AR Rahman. During an interaction in Hyderabad, where she previously performed at a promotional concert for the movie, Suresh detailed her recording experience and her ongoing six-year collaboration as the lead female vocalist of Rahman's touring band. The high-energy song has become a major commercial hit, dominating radio stations, social media reels, gym playlists, and YouTube charts.
Suresh recorded the track in three languages—Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada—after receiving a call from Rahman’s office. The entire recording process took about two to three days, with each language session lasting roughly an hour. The Telugu version was recorded first while Rahman was out of town, and he later expressed his appreciation for her rendition.
The singer's professional association with the Oscar-winning composer began after she finished second in the Tamil reality show 'Super Singer' in 2018. A year later, she was invited to record at his studio in Chennai. Since 2020, Suresh has been touring globally as the lead female vocalist in Rahman's band.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Suresh spent extensive time recording at Rahman's studio, working on the film 'Mimi', scratch tracks, and unreleased material. She credited Rahman with helping her discover new vocal abilities and challenging her to experiment with different genres.
Suresh also recalled promoting 'Peddi' in Hyderabad last November during an AR Rahman concert. The event was attended by lead actors Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, and director Buchi Babu. At the time, only the title theme sung by Suresh had been released. Director Buchi Babu introduced Suresh to Kapoor, who recognized her and praised her performance. Suresh has since performed at promotional events for the film in Bhopal and Vijayawada.
Suresh, who began training in music at the age of four, previously participated in several television reality shows, including the Kannada show 'Yedai Thumbi Haaduvenu' hosted by the late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.
