Sigma Advanced Systems Secures Rs 1,013 Crore Defence Export Contract

Hyderabad-based defence and aerospace manufacturer Sigma Advanced Systems Limited announced on Monday that it has secured a major export order worth USD 104.9 million, or approximately Rs 1,013 crore, from a North American customer. The contract requires the company to manufacture and supply 147,000 units of 155 mm base bleed artillery shell bodies, which are seeing high demand in global markets.

The order will be executed over the next six to 12 months, according to an official press release issued by the company.

Speaking on the development, Sunil Kalidindi, CEO and Executive Director of Sigma Advanced Systems Limited, said: "Such contracts reflect the confidence global customers place in Sigma’s manufacturing capabilities and reinforce our ambition to become a long-term partner to leading defence organisations across global markets."

Company officials stated that the deal will bring multiple long-term benefits to the business, including improving overall profitability. It is also expected to strengthen the firm's position as an export-qualified manufacturer in the international artillery ammunition supply chain.

The contract arrives amid rapidly expanding global investments in artillery modernisation, with defence forces across several regions placing a priority on ammunition stockpiling.

Sigma Advanced Systems has previously secured contracts for 155 mm fuzes and M107 artillery shell bodies. With this contract, the company is advancing into the manufacturing of more technologically complex base bleed shells, which integrate aerodynamics, energetics, propulsion-related technologies, and systems engineering into the projectile.
