Shreyas Iyer Named Captain for India's T20I Series Against Afghanistan

Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in Delhi from September 13 to September 17.

Tilak Varma will serve as the vice-captain of the squad announced for the three-match series.

The selection of four players in the contingent remains subject to fitness clearance. These include all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar, alongside pace bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana.

The 15-member squad features two designated wicketkeepers, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. The batting and all-round options include Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel.

The bowling department includes spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, along with fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, joining Bumrah and Rana in the lineup.
