Shankarpally Police Nab Two Pardhi Gang Members Linked to 11 House Thefts

The Shankarpally police on Sunday arrested two members of an interstate Pardhi gang allegedly involved in a series of burglaries targeting locked houses and commercial shutters in and around Shankarpally.

The suspects were intercepted at around 10 am on Sunday after police spotted them moving suspiciously near temporary huts on Rice Mill Road. During questioning, the duo confessed to their involvement in 11 theft cases across the region.

Among the admitted offences was a recent burglary in Elvarthi village. The suspects confessed to breaking into a residence at around 2 am on August 11, where they stole gold ornaments, silver articles, and cash.

According to police, the gang followed a systematic modus operandi. Members surveyed neighbourhoods during the daytime to identify locked houses. After confirming that no occupants were present, they used iron rods to break open the locks and make off with valuables. To conceal their identities and avoid detection, the burglars wore masks and gloves during the break-ins, while other members of the gang kept watch outside.

Police investigations revealed that the gang members originated from Solapur and Jalna districts of Maharashtra and had been operating across Shankarpally, BDL Bhanur, Gajwel, and nearby localities for the past six months.

The gang members reportedly travelled from Maharashtra alongside women and children, setting up temporary tents near construction sites in Shankarpally, Lingampally, and Tolichowki to blend in while carrying out offences.

The police stated that further investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
