Shamshabad Airport Ranked World's Fourth Most Family-Friendly Airport

The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad, has been ranked as the fourth most family-friendly airport in the world. The announcement was made on Monday by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, the operator of the facility.

The global recognition comes from AttractionTickets.com, a travel experience provider based in the United Kingdom, as part of its Happiest Airports Ranking. The study assessed more than 140 airports worldwide to determine the top locations for families traveling with children.

The Shamshabad airport scored 18.5 out of a maximum 20 points, making it one of only two Indian airports to be featured in the prestigious international ranking. The final scores were compiled following a detailed data analysis conducted in May 2026.

The ranking evaluated each airport across nine specific family-centric parameters. These indicators included Google review ratings, the availability of children's play areas, dedicated family security lanes, baby-changing facilities, stroller services, rest and sleep zones, Wi-Fi quality, the overall size of the airport, and support services for neurodivergent passengers.

Kadhir Kadhiravan, the Chief Executive Officer of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, welcomed the ranking and highlighted the airport's focus on passenger comfort.

"Being ranked among the world’s most family-friendly airports is a proud milestone for Hyderabad Airport," Kadhiravan said in a statement.

"This recognition reflects our continued commitment to designing a passenger experience that is inclusive, thoughtful, and responsive to the evolving needs of modern travellers," the CEO added. "From child-friendly facilities to personalised assistance for families, every element is designed to make travel smoother, more comfortable, and memorable."

Kadhiravan also noted that the achievement strengthens the airport's resolve to continue raising global benchmarks while innovating to meet the changing requirements of travelers.
