Shaheen Nagar Madrasa teacher sentenced to 20 years for assaulting boy

A Special Court for Rape & POCSO cases on Thursday convicted a 22-year-old Madrasa teacher and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy in Shaheen Nagar, Hyderabad. The court found the accused, Syed Nadeem, guilty of the crime which took place in early 2022.
The legal proceedings began after a complaint was lodged on March 23, 2022, at the Balapur Police Station by the victim's father. According to the police, the 11-year-old victim had been regularly attending Madrasa Jamia Noorul Anwar, located in the Shaheen Nagar area, before the incident occurred.
The father of the victim noticed that his son had suddenly stopped going to the Madrasa for about a week. The boy also appeared to be highly disturbed, which prompted his father to ask him about the reasons behind his sudden change in behavior and absence from his classes.
During this conversation, the boy revealed the abuse. He told his father that about a month prior to the complaint, his Madrasa teacher, Syed Nadeem, had forcibly taken him to his house. Once inside, the teacher stripped the boy and committed unnatural sex.
The accused also threatened to kill the 11-year-old boy if he disclosed the matter to anyone else. This threat kept the boy silent until his father questioned his disturbed state.
Following the complaint, the Balapur Police registered the case, and the Hyderabad City Police initiated a thorough investigation into the allegations. Upon the successful completion of the investigation and the subsequent trial, the case was presented before the Special Court for Rape & POCSO cases.
The court, on Thursday, found Syed Nadeem guilty of the charges. Along with the 20-year term of rigorous imprisonment, the court also ordered the convict to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000.
