Shahbad Man Accused of Murdering Six People After Year of Harassing Minor Girl

A 35-year-old man allegedly murdered six people, including his wife, his two children, and a 16-year-old girl he had been harassing, in Shahbad, Hyderabad, on Friday night. The suspect, P Raj Kumar, also killed the teenage girl's mother and grandmother with a knife before fleeing the scene in a car.

The Shahbad police had previously booked a case against Raj Kumar on May 16, 2026, following a harassment complaint lodged by the minor girl's mother. The police registered the case under sections 78 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Raj Kumar, a resident of Dhaivalguda, had been harassing the 16-year-old girl for over a year. Despite being married and having two children of his own, Raj Kumar continuously followed the teenager and insisted that she speak with him over the phone.

The victim was an intermediate first-year student at a private college in Shamshabad. Raj Kumar reportedly obstructed her path on her way to college, forcing her to enter a relationship with him, and threatened to kill her if she refused to speak to him. Due to fear caused by these death threats, the girl's mother had stopped sending her to college for six months.

Because Raj Kumar's house was located next to the complainant's house, he had installed CCTV cameras facing their residence to monitor all of their movements.

The harassment escalated on May 16, 2026, when the mother accompanied her daughter to Shamshabad to appear for an intermediate exam. Raj Kumar arrived at the college premises and wandered nearby. When the girl exited the college after her exam, Raj Kumar grabbed her hand and attempted to drag her away.

The girl's mother rescued her daughter and immediately left the premises, but Raj Kumar chased them and issued further death threats, prompting the mother to file the police complaint.

Following the Friday night killings, the suspect fled the scene in his car. The Shahbad police are currently searching for Raj Kumar.
