Seven-Storey Building Collapses in Anjaiah Nagar, Leaving Three Feared Trapped

A seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Anjaiah Nagar under the Madhapur police station limits on Saturday afternoon, damaging neighboring structures and leaving at least three workers feared trapped under the debris.

The structure was reportedly built on just 50 yards of land situated adjacent to a nala. When the building gave way, the debris fell onto the neighboring Whitefield Apartment, causing partial structural damage. A student hostel located next to the site was also impacted by the collapse, triggering panic among its residents.

Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams, police personnel, and fire service officials from both the Gachibowli and Madhapur stations quickly reached the spot to initiate search and rescue operations. Rescue teams utilized a Victim Location Camera to scan the rubble and detect signs of life. During the operation, DRF personnel worked to retrieve a body found trapped under the debris, while search efforts continued for the other missing workers.

Local residents expressed serious concerns over the safety standards of the site and alleged that the seven-storey structure was an illegal construction. Residents of the affected apartment stated that they had previously submitted complaints to authorities regarding the unsafe construction, but alleged that officials had failed to take timely action.

Local MLA Arekapudi Gandhi visited the site and spoke to the media, stating that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the construction. The identity of the building owner has not yet been confirmed, and officials are conducting further investigations into the incident.
