Seven Arrested For Murder Of Former Deputy Sarpanch Pittala Yakaiah In Mahbubabad

The Mahbubabad rural police have arrested seven individuals, including the wife of former deputy sarpanch Pittala Yakaiah, in connection with his murder in Singaram village of Mahbubabad district. The 53-year-old victim was killed in the early hours of July 1 after his wife allegedly orchestrated a contract killing plot over property disputes and suspicions of an extramarital relationship.

The arrested suspects include the victim's wife, 53-year-old Pittala Yashoda, alongside Gangula Krishna, Martha Krishnamurthy, and the hired assailants Gangaraboyina Venkanna and Sunchu Shiva. According to investigators, a total of seven people have been charged and taken into custody following a detailed police investigation.

Police officials stated that Yashoda suspected Yakaiah of having an extramarital relationship with another woman. Her suspicion grew into a conspiracy after Yakaiah allegedly made attempts to transfer several acres of family-owned land into that woman's name. Fearing the loss of the property, Yashoda decided to eliminate her husband.

To execute the plan, Yashoda allegedly collaborated with Gangula Krishna, a resident of Singaram village. Together, they agreed to hire external contract killers for a sum of Rs 4 lakh to carry out the murder.

In the early hours of July 1, the hired assailants, Venkanna and Shiva, entered the premises of Yakaiah's residence. The former deputy sarpanch was sleeping on the veranda of his house at the time. The assailants attacked him with an iron rod, inflicting fatal injuries.

To mislead the investigators and make the incident look like a robbery gone wrong, the assailants removed a gold chain from Yakaiah's body before fleeing the scene. Another accused individual, Martha Krishnamurthy, allegedly assisted the other conspirators in executing the entire plan.

The Mahbubabad rural police cracked the case by analyzing mobile phone call records, reviewing local CCTV footage, and gathering other scientific evidence. After establishing the conspiracy, police questioned the suspects and subsequently arrested all seven individuals involved in the crime.
