Seva First Innovation Challenge Opens for Students Across Telangana and South India

The Seva First Innovation Challenge has been launched to invite students and young innovators across Telangana and other southern regions to identify local community problems and build practical solutions. The regional challenge covers Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry, aiming to encourage practical innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.

Submissions for the initiative will remain open until October 24, 2026. Following the close of the entry window, state-level screening of submissions is scheduled to begin on October 25, 2026. The competition will culminate in a final exhibition and showcase scheduled to run from November 30 through December 15, 2026.

The challenge is structured across three distinct participation tiers to engage youth at different academic stages. The Junior level is open to school students enrolled in classes VI through XII, requiring them to observe community problems and submit either a simple working solution or a well-reasoned governance or service idea. The Technical level caters specifically to students from Industrial Training Institutes and polytechnic colleges, focusing on engineering, fabrication, electronics, and process solutions.

For older participants, an Open level has been designed for undergraduate students, postgraduate scholars, and researchers. Entrants in this category are expected to showcase a prototype or pilot initiative accompanied by a viable deployment pathway, complete with details on costs, target beneficiaries, execution timelines, scalability, and measurable impact.

Participants can submit their ideas across two designated tracks. Track A focuses on product and technology solutions, including physical devices, prototypes, advanced materials, software systems, and engineering processes ready for demonstration. Track B centres on business models and governance mechanisms, spanning service design, community institutions, process re-engineering, financing structures, and regulatory innovations.

The challenge has identified core national themes including Swachh and Sustainable Bharat, Samriddh Annadata, Samriddh Bharat, Swasth and Samavesh Bharat, Shikshit and Kaushal Bharat, and Surakshit Bharat. These themes encompass critical sectors such as water and waste management, agriculture, rural innovation, healthcare, inclusion, education, skilling, mobility, manufacturing, safety, sports, and digital public infrastructure.
