Security Tightened at Shamshabad Airport Ahead of Independence Day

Security measures have been tightened at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, Hyderabad, following a heightened nationwide alert ahead of Independence Day. Officials confirmed that enhanced security arrangements are being introduced across the airport and its surrounding access points.

As part of the security measures, checks of vehicles and frisking will be introduced along the approach roads leading to the airport. Entry points to the airport facility in Shamshabad will also see increased security monitoring.

In light of these measures, RGIA officials have advised passengers to factor in additional commuting time and arrive earlier than usual for their flights. The increased vigilance is expected to impact processing times at various security checkpoints.

According to officials, detailed baggage scanning and pre-embarkation checks carried out by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and local police could lead to extended processing times for travellers.
