Secunderabad RPF and GRP Return Lost Valuables Worth Rs 29.15 Lakh to Passengers

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, have recovered and returned lost passenger belongings worth Rs 29.15 lakh. The recoveries were successfully made in two separate incidents under the ongoing "Operation Amanat" initiative this year.

The recovered valuables, which included a large quantity of gold ornaments, cash, mobile phones, and a wristwatch, were safely restored to their rightful owners. Railway authorities handed over the items following a thorough verification process.

In the first of the two incidents, RPF personnel successfully traced a handbag that had been left behind on the Simhapuri Express. The handbag belonged to a passenger from Hyderabad. Inside the retrieved bag, officials found 172 grams of gold ornaments, Rs 45,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and a wristwatch. The total value of the items recovered from the Simhapuri Express was estimated at Rs 27.05 lakh.

The second incident involved a passenger from Visakhapatnam who accidentally left a waist bag on board a train. The waist bag contained Rs 2.10 lakh in cash. Following the incident, a complaint was filed through the Rail Madad system. Upon receiving the Rail Madad complaint, railway officials tracked down and successfully recovered the waist bag with the cash.

According to RPF officials, all the recovered valuables from both of these incidents were handed back to the respective passengers after their ownership was verified.

These recent operations are part of a larger ongoing effort by the railway security forces in the region. So far this year, RPF Secunderabad has successfully restored lost passenger belongings worth a total of Rs 68.69 lakh. These successful recoveries have spanned across 101 individual cases registered under Operation Amanat.
