Secunderabad Railway Police Arrest Two Men for Drugging and Robbing Train Passenger

The Secunderabad Railway Police on Saturday arrested two real-estate brokers for allegedly drugging a passenger on a train at Secunderabad Railway Station and stealing his belongings.

The accused have been identified as 39-year-old Batha Prasad, alias Prasad, a resident of Gowliguda, and 44-year-old Korapati Narsing Rao, a resident of Rasoolpura. Police seized a stolen mobile phone, Rs. 500 in cash, and intoxicating tablets from their possession, according to Railway Deputy Superintendent of Police (Secunderabad Division) SN Jawed.

According to the police, the two accused had known each other for five years and had formed a plan to commit property theft by mixing sedative tablets into food and beverages offered to train passengers.

On the afternoon of August 17, the duo arrived at Secunderabad Railway Station carrying a concealed water bottle mixed with intoxicating tablets. At around 1:30 pm, they boarded the S-3 coach of the Sabari Superfast Express.

Shortly after, a passenger named Anil Kumar KG entered the compartment, sat on the opposite berth, and stored his luggage underneath. Prasad initiated a conversation with Kumar to gain his trust and subsequently offered him the laced drinking water. After drinking the water, Kumar became drowsy and fell asleep.

Prasad then took Kumar's luggage bag and handed it to Rao, directing him to exit the railway station and wait outside. Rao left the station with the bag, followed shortly by Prasad.

Outside the station, Prasad removed Kumar's mobile phone and Rs. 5,400 in cash from the bag. The bag and the remaining contents were discarded in a garbage bin. Prasad kept the mobile phone intending to sell it later. The pair spent Rs. 400 on alcohol and divided the remaining Rs. 5,000 equally between themselves.

Following an investigation based on information received, railway police traced and arrested both suspects.
