SCR Collects Rs 1.28 Crore in Revenue During Three-Day Ticket Checking Drive

The South Central Railway realised Rs 1.28 crore in revenue during a three-day intensive ticket-checking drive conducted across its zone, railway officials announced in Hyderabad. The special inspection campaign was carried out from August 24 to August 26 ahead of the upcoming festival and holiday season.

During the course of the three-day drive, ticket checking teams caught 13,964 passengers travelling without valid tickets or with irregular travel documentation. In addition to ticketless travellers, railway authorities identified 1,189 passengers who were transporting unbooked luggage in violation of travel regulations, contributing to the overall revenue collection of Rs 1.28 crore.

Beyond ticketing offences, railway officials cracked down on civic and safety violations across railway stations and trains. Authorities registered cases against 37 passengers for littering on railway premises, resulting in the collection of Rs 6,400 in penalties. Additionally, five unauthorised hawkers operating without necessary permissions were penalised with fines amounting to Rs 10,000.

Ticket checking teams also penalised seven passengers caught smoking on railway premises in violation of safety rules.

Alongside the enforcement measures, railway staff counselled passengers on the importance of purchasing valid tickets and adhering strictly to railway regulations. Officials sensitised commuters to the fire risks associated with smoking on premises and trains, while also stressing the need to maintain cleanliness across railway stations.
