SCCL Assures Uninterrupted Coal Supply to Telangana Power Stations

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has assured an uninterrupted supply of coal to thermal power stations across Telangana to meet the state's rising electricity demand. The assurance was given during a coordination meeting held via video conference at Singareni Bhavan, amid rising power demand triggered by deficit rainfall under current El Niño conditions.

During the meeting, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti directed officials to step up coal movement to ensure continuous power generation. He announced that special officers would be appointed to monitor the continuous transport of coal and requested that deliveries to state thermal plants be prioritized.

The meeting was co-chaired by GENCO CMD Dr. Harish, who reviewed the current electricity demand, coal production, and transport issues. Marketing officials from SCCL reported that the company currently supplies 72 percent of the coal consumed by GENCO thermal stations, which includes the Ramagundam NTPC and Singareni plants.

Dr. Jyoti urged closer coordination between SCCL and GENCO to maintain adequate stocks. He stated that the company is prepared to reallocate coal earmarked for other states to Telangana if necessary. He also stressed that production levels must be maintained, coal quality preserved, and preventive measures taken to avoid disruptions during the monsoon season.

Dr. Harish detailed the current coal stock positions at various GENCO stations and requested senior officials to intervene promptly to resolve any transport bottlenecks.

The meeting saw participation from several key officials, including SCCL directors E.L.V. Suryanarayana, K. Venkateswara, and M. Tirumala Rao, Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna, and General Manager (Coordination & Marketing) T. Srinivas. GENCO directors Nagya and Rajasekhar, along with CEOs Bichchanna, Lakshmayya, and Sriprakash, were also present.
