Saturday Evening Showers Hit Rajendranagar, Charminar and Other Parts of Hyderabad

Saturday evening showers swept across several parts of Hyderabad, including Rajendranagar, Charminar, and Musheerabad, coinciding with the weekend rush as residents headed outdoors across the city.

According to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) gauges, Rajendranagar recorded the city's highest rainfall on Saturday at 12.3 mm. Charminar registered 10.8 mm, Musheerabad received 8.8 mm, and Bandlaguda recorded 8 mm. Rajendranagar (ARS) logged 7.8 mm, while several spots in Bandlaguda, Ibrahimpatnam, and Abdullapurmet recorded 7.5 mm of rainfall.

The city experienced partly cloudy and breezy conditions throughout the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a maximum temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 23.9 degrees Celsius. Although the main IMD observation station recorded no rainfall, localized GHMC gauges registered rainfall across multiple neighbourhoods.

Across Telangana, Pargi in Vikarabad district recorded the highest rainfall at 17 mm, followed by Jharasangam in Sangareddy with 16.5 mm, Kondurg with 13 mm, and Munipally with 11.3 mm. Several other districts also recorded light to moderate precipitation.

The IMD stated that the weather activity was driven by a persistent low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and north Odisha coasts. The system is expected to move west-northwestwards over the next 48 hours.

The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places across Telangana through September 4, with strong surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph expected on Sunday.
