Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar on Saturday directed officials to expedite the completion of the Rs 597.68 crore Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU) in Kazipet during his inspection of railway projects in Telangana. The facility is set to become a major hub for manufacturing and maintaining modern railway coaches, which is expected to strengthen rail infrastructure and generate employment in the region.

During his visit to Kazipet, Satish Kumar was accompanied by South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and Secunderabad Divisional Railway Manager Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan. The officials reviewed multiple ongoing works, including the redevelopment projects at Kazipet under the Amrit Station Scheme, where passenger amenities are being upgraded.

At the RMU site, officials from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) briefed the Railway Board Chairman on the design and progress of the construction. The briefing featured a physical model and a detailed presentation of the project.

Following the presentation, Satish Kumar conducted an inspection of the key sections of the manufacturing unit. These included the main shed, the coach shop, the paint shop, the wheel shop, and the testing shop. After the walkthrough, he instructed the project officials to complete the remaining construction works on schedule.

Speaking to the media about the project's impact, Satish Kumar stated that the Kazipet unit would develop into a major centre for the manufacture and maintenance of modern coaches. He added that the project would strengthen the country's railway infrastructure while also creating new employment opportunities for the local population.

Following his assessment in Kazipet, Satish Kumar conducted a rear-window inspection while travelling from Kazipet to Charlapalli. During this journey, he reviewed the redevelopment works and passenger amenities at the Jangaon Amrit Station. His itinerary also included reviewing works at the Cherlapally terminal and visiting the Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications.
