SANSA Jewellery and VL Zaris Host Handloom Pop-Up in Banjara Hills

Hyderabad-based luxury bespoke jewellery brand SANSA Jewellery collaborated with Chennai-based handloom house VL Zaris to host a three-day pop-up at its store in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The joint showcase brought together handcrafted jewellery and traditional handwoven textiles to highlight Indian artisanal craftsmanship.
SANSA Jewellery, which was established as a retail brand in 2020 by Chandana Shailendren, partnered with VL Zaris after Chandana met its founder, Vidya Ananth, at an exhibition. The exhibition featured a curated selection of handwoven sarees alongside contemporary jewellery designs.
The textiles on display included Kanjivaram silks, Banaras sarees, Tussars, Maheshwari silk-cottons, and silk sarees featuring original Kalamkari work on Kanchipattu silk. VL Zaris also showcased its newly launched Radha-Krishna saree, designs featuring Ravi Varma-inspired imagery woven into the fabric, and Banaras fusion pieces.
Vidya Ananth, who left a corporate career in food safety in the United States four years ago to establish VL Zaris, noted that the label works directly with weaving communities across centres including Kanchipuram, Banaras, Bengal, Maheshwar, and Pochampally. A key focus of the brand has been reviving traditional techniques, including Korvai sarees, an intricate method practiced by a small percentage of Kanchipuram weavers.
Alongside the handloom textiles, SANSA presented a new collection designed for the upcoming festive and wedding season. In response to rising gold prices, the brand introduced lightweight diamond pieces crafted using techniques that reduce the weight of traditional designs by almost half without compromising their appearance. The label also displayed everyday jewellery and gemstone pieces set in silver to make fine jewellery more accessible.
Following the three-day event at Banjara Hills, SANSA announced plans to host future pop-ups and collaborative shows across Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi.
