Sanjush Fled Hospital After Fatal Cable Bridge Crash, Kukatpally DCP Confirms

Lingamaneni Sanjush was apprehended by police from his residence after fleeing a hospital where a 26-year-old woman was declared brought dead following a fatal crash near the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge, Kukatpally DCP Riti Raj confirmed.

The incident occurred on August 16 when Sanjush’s alleged rash and negligent driving resulted in the death of Bharati Mukhi, an employee of a private firm. Sanjush dropped Mukhi and her colleague at a hospital and subsequently fled the premises after doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The police findings contradict claims made by Sanjush's father, Jana Sena Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh, and a WhatsApp message circulated by a PR agency on the accused's behalf, which asserted that Sanjush had voluntarily visited the police station to report the crash.

“The accused left hospital after admitting the victim. Later, police apprehended him from his residence,” Kukatpally DCP Riti Raj said.

Inquiries revealed that police were only alerted to the incident after the manager of the store where Mukhi worked filed a complaint with the Madhapur police.

Questions have also been raised regarding the response of traffic police officers who were present at the scene. A video recorded by a passer-by captured a traffic police sub-inspector and a constable who did not alert their counterparts in the law and order wing. DCP Riti Raj stated that an inquiry will be conducted into any potential lapses on the part of the traffic police.

Additionally, the Madhapur police initially withheld the full identity of the accused, recording only the first name "Sanjush" without a surname or father's name. Details of the August 16 crash emerged publicly only after video footage of the incident and the accused surfaced on August 20.

Following the incident, Ramesh posted on Instagram stating he had faith in a fair legal process and pledged full cooperation with the investigation. In an image posted on the same account, Sanjush appeared clean-shaven at the Durga temple in Vijayawada two days after the crash, despite sporting a beard at the time of the collision.

Intelligence agencies are also looking into reports that an NDA Member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh arranged a chartered flight to transport Mukhi's relatives from Odisha to Hyderabad.
