Sanjay Jaju Appointed Telangana Chief Secretary in Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle

The Telangana government on Friday appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju as the new Chief Secretary of the state during a major bureaucratic reshuffle in Hyderabad. Jaju, a 1992-batch officer, will officially succeed the incumbent Chief Secretary, K Ramakrishna Rao, who is set to retire from the post on June 30.
Prior to this appointment, Jaju was serving as the secretary in the Union ministry of development of the north eastern region. He was repatriated to his parent Telangana cadre earlier this week after the state government made a formal request for his return to the state administration.
In addition to his responsibilities as the Chief Secretary, Jaju will continue to hold charge of multiple key departments. He will oversee the industries and commerce department as well as the information technology (IT) department. Furthermore, Jaju will serve as the chief executive officer of the Industry and Investment Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). He is also tasked with overseeing the SPEED initiative, maintaining the exact portfolios that were handled by his predecessor.
The state government has also designated a new role for the outgoing Chief Secretary. Upon his superannuation on June 30, K Ramakrishna Rao will take up the position of advisor and ex-officio special chief secretary to the Chief Minister.
The administrative reshuffle has led to several other significant changes among senior IAS officers in the state. N Sridhar, who was serving as the principal secretary of mines and geology, has been inducted into the CMO to serve as a principal secretary.
Meanwhile, V Seshadri, a 1999-batch IAS officer, will continue to serve in his current capacity as a principal secretary in the CMO.
Additionally, special secretary B Ajith Reddy has been transferred to a new position. Reddy will now take charge as the chief executive officer of Invest Telangana, which operates under the industries and commerce department.
